I built this mod to have an easy way to power devices off of a thinkpad power supply. It seems stupid, and probably is, but this is after all UselessMods.com, where anything goes!
You start with an ibm power plug. This one was scavenged off of an old ibm minidock that was broken.
Then you take the female end off of a usb extension cable.
Here's both pieces together to give you an idea about the sizes.
You attach the pieces together and solder them. Make sure to align the polarity correctly. The black wire is neg and red whire is pos! On this adapter, the outside ring of the plug is neg, and the inside pin is pos.
Here's the completed adapter. I cut up some plastic pachaging and made a box like thingy out of it and filled it with hot glue to keep stuff from moving around.
